South Africa Short-term Mission Information Meeting
Sunday, February 11 | 12:15 pm | Room 101

Community Health Evangelists (CHE) in South Africa are looking for subject matter experts in any of the areas listed below to train their leaders in South Africa who will then train others how to make a living using these new skills. This is a great opportunity to use your gifts and talents to build God’s Kingdom! This trip is tentatively scheduled for July/August 2018.

  • Microenterprise or Entrepreneurs: We are seeking one or two experts willing to provide training and insight on how to develop, run and grow community based micro-businesses.
  • Master Woodworkers: Many of the young people are looking for a skill to create a sustainable income and need someone willing to teach them how to use simple tools and how to design and create practical articles from wood such as bowls, spoons, plates, etc.
  • Pottery Artisans: The CHE’s in the townships want to learn how to design and create pottery items to sell in microenterprises. Must be willing to leverage local resources and be creative in developing tools to make pottery like a wood kiln and pottery wheels.
  • Quilters: Teach locals the art of quilting while sharing the Word. This is a useful skill to build relationships and many homes do not have direct heat so blankets are in demand during the winter months.

If you are interested in the possibility of going on this mission trip, plan to attend the information meeting on February 11 to learn more. Questions? Jim Wirkus at james.wirkus@comcast.net or 435.729.9393.
